My studio door will be open and you are invited into my workspace to get a chance to watch my creative process. I will be giving demonstrations of my colored clay techniques and will have a display of my work for sale along with seconds and clearance pieces. My studio will be a part of a statewide tour with a cluster of studios to visit in the Brattleboro, Vermont area.
This year I will be doing demonstrations of my colored clay techniques on Friday August 10th and Saturday August 11th at the Fair. It will be my first time in 33 years that I will not have a booth. On the days that I demo I will have my work available for sale in “The Shop at the Fair”. If you have seen and maybe purchased my work in the past, this is an opportunity to watch what goes into making it. It’s a whole different window into my creative process and I’m excited to share it with you.
These “Rhythm Shakers” are among a set that will be in the “Living with Craft” exhibit at the Craftsmen’s Fair for the full nine days: August 4th – 12th.
My beloved “Brattleboro-West Arts” group will once again be presenting its annual Holiday Show and Sale at the beautiful 118 Elliot space in Brattleboro. New this year, Sharon Myers Fine Catering will be offering delicious food for purchase and there will be live music on Saturday evening! The hours of the show are:

This is an opportunity to see where I create my colored porcelain pieces and watch me do demonstrations of my techniques. I have a display of work available for sale in my studio and will have a selection of seconds and clearance pieces marked down as well.
Special guest marquetry artist and jeweler, Breeze Verdant, will be showing his work in my studio as well!

Brattleboro-West Arts is in the process of planning its annual holiday show and sale at 118 Elliot St. in Brattleboro, Vt. The show is set to kick off during Brattleboro’s December Gallery Walk with an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2. The show will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4. Last year’s event featured 17 BWA artists under one roof. Participating artists will be announced as the date draws nearer.
Come see where I make my colored clay pieces and maybe even watch me make one! There is nothing like going into a studio to see the tools, methods, environment in which the creative process happens. And you can see the finished results right on the display shelves above my wheel. Just around the corner of my studio will be a display of seconds and clearance pieces with marked down prices.
Once again, a group of us Brattleboro-West Arts members are offering our tour in the West Brattleboro and Marlboro area in conjunction with the statewide Vermont Crafts Council Tour. It is also part of the “American Craft Week” festivities that the state of Vermont is the host of this year.
This workshop will explore hand-building as well as throwing techniques with colored clay. We will go through the process of wedging stains into the clay, layering the different colors and forming pieces by hand and throwing shapes on the wheel. We will then take it further by faceting, fluting and carving the surface to reveal patterns. It is a wonderfully organic process that integrates the patterned designs with the piece. The weekend will include a presentation of current colored clay work by a broad range of artists, as well as demonstrations and hands-on.
This is the 83rd annual Craftsmen’s Fair! It is the oldest craft fair in the nation. It is… gulp… my 33rd year of having a booth at the Fair. For 32 years I was there for the full 9 days and this year is a big change for me. I will be there for just the first four days! I am putting that in bold so that you are sure to come between Saturday August 6th and Tuesday August 9th if you want to catch me there in my booth. I decided that it is time for a change and to have more of my summer for adventures with my husband and friends.
I will have pieces in the exhibit “Living with Craft” and for the first time I will have a sculpture in “The Sculpture Garden”!
It is an amazing event with over 300 booths, special exhibits, demonstrations, tours, live music, food and more! Hope to see you there…
